Retirement is not what you think!

Retirement is not what you think!  This is something that I have learned the hard way.  It’s been over a year and a half and boy, does one wake up.

You think you’ve planned for the best time of your life, when it should be easy and you can travel.  We downsized, moved to a resort area and thought, ahhh life is good.  Once you do so many of things you wanted to do “when you retire”, you start to look at it again.

FIRST:  If your husband is in a job that he has no choice but to walk away at 65, he’s too young.  Then what, live on a beach like you did as a kid?  Gets boring very fast.

SECOND:  Now the love of my life is around 24/7.  Hmmm, that takes adjusting, not used to that at all.  And they want you with them ALL the time.  For most of us, this is not quite what we signed up for.  The fact my husband traveled and was gone half the month….you can imagine how I feel.

THIRD:  The prices of everything goes up and your retirement stays the same.  Problem, who wants to have to cut back at this point in our lives.

We’ve both decided it’s time to get healthier and stay that way.  That’s physically and mentally, also.  I’ve started “Intermittent Fasting” that has made me feel amazing, and cleared my brain fuzz.  More on that in another post. We are vibrant, outgoing people and we aren’t done contributing to this world! I personally am now 71 and plan to try for a new career.  Why not?

Retire, never

Do any of you feel the same way?  Do you work new jobs?  Volunteer work?  I’m not sure what he will do but I’m now working on my resume and intend to fight the system.  Anyone with me?
